Role of the Hospital School
Our role is to facilitate children’s education during their hospital stay in a way that is best suited to their needs, abilities and recovery.
Meet the Team
Anne is the post primary teacher, Clodagh is the primary teacher and Michelle is the SNA. We work with pupils of school age on St. Gabriel’s ward throughout the school year. We follow the same school calendar and curriculum as all schools. Whether a child is in hospital for a short or long term stay, they are welcome in our school.
We have a lovely classroom space on St. Gabriel’s ward where children can attend when they are well enough to do so. Teachers can also work with pupils at the bedside. Where it is appropriate, teachers will liaise with a pupil’s home school to best support their needs. Teachers also work closely with the nurses and therapists involved in a child’s care.
