Katie Geraghty

Ward staff St Gabriels ward, Clinical Nurse Manager 2

Katie achieved her Bachelor of Science (Hons) nursing degree in Children’s and General Nursing at Dublin City University where she completed her clinical training in Temple Street Children’s University Hospital and the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital. 

She began working as staff nurse on St. Gabriel’s ward, the speciality neurosurgical ward immediately after her training. During her time as a staff nurse in St. Gabriel’s ward she completed the Professional Stand Alone module Children’s Neuroscience Nursing Care developed by the School of Nursing and Human Sciences at Dublin City University. 

Katie has worked as Clinical Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Manager in Temple Street over recent years. In these roles she focused on staff development and training and took the lead on multiple quality improvement projects and practice development initiatives both at ward level and throughout the wider organisation. 

Katie returned to St Gabriel’s ward as Clinical Nurse Manager 2 in July 2020. As CNM2 she provides clinical leadership the nursing team to ensure the provision of high quality nursing care to the children and families of St Gabriel’s ward. She facilitates the coordination of patient care through her role as a key member of the neurosurgical and neuro-rehabilitation multidisciplinary teams
